Description:

Walking in Cilento Description: Starting from the square in Roscigno Vecchia, you take trail 518 of the Cilento Vallo di Diano and Alburni National Park, TAV. 3 of the Park's Trail Map. The trail descends to the sources of the Sammaro River, where you venture into a short stretch of the gorge carved by the river. After a necessary break, you continue uphill towards SP342, which you follow briefly before beginning the ascent to the ruins of Sacco Vecchia. You first arrive at the ruins of the Church of San Nicola and then at those of the Castle of Sacco, both dating back to the 6th century AD. From here, you start descending towards the historic center of Sacco, where the excursion will end.

Technical Information:

Participants should wear hiking shoes and clothing.

It is necessary to bring sunscreen, a cap, and a rain poncho if needed. Reservations are mandatory with three days' advance notice, and participants should bring 1.5 liters of water.
